Two co-founders with no technical background wanted one place where Knoxville could find local events, restaurants and services. We took it from a conversation to the App Store and Play Store, with a verified business directory behind it.

Justin and his co-founder knew Knoxville well. They knew the events people talked about, the restaurants that deserved more attention and the small businesses that never showed up in a search. What they did not have was a way to bring all of that into one place, or anyone on the team who could build it.
They had an idea, a clear picture of who it was for, and zero technical background. No designs, no code, no developer. Exactly where a lot of people reading this are right now.
A community app lives or dies on two things: enough real businesses listed at launch, and enough trust that the listings are real. That second part is harder than it sounds. Anyone can type a business name into a form. We had to verify that a listing belonged to an actual registered business, not just a person with a phone, before it went live.
Verifying a business is a different problem from verifying a person. You are checking an entity: registration documents, ownership, the right to represent it. We needed a flow that a busy restaurant owner could get through on their phone, an admin side where the team could review documents and approve or reject, and a record of every decision in case a listing was ever questioned.
On top of that, the product had to work on both iOS and Android from day one, plus a web portal for businesses and the founders, all built and launched by a small team inside about half a year.
We started by pushing back on the idea. Which features actually mattered for launch, which could wait, and what would make a business owner in Knoxville bother to sign up? That gave us a scoped plan and a fixed price before any code was written.
Every screen was designed and reviewed with Justin before development. It is far cheaper to change a screen in Figma than in code, and the designs became the shared reference for the whole build.
Events, restaurants, services and a community feed in a single codebase shipped to both stores, so two platforms did not mean two budgets.
A React web app where businesses manage their listings and the ConnectingKnox team moderates content, reviews verification requests and keeps the directory clean.
Users verify who they are; businesses verify that they exist as an entity. Document upload, review queue, approval workflow and an audit log of every decision, handled inside the platform rather than over email.
A conventional, well-documented stack that any competent developer can pick up later. The client owns all of it.
Data and compliance work shipped: Personal (KYC) and business (KYB) verification, business document handling, audit logging.

ConnectingKnox launched as a working product on both app stores with a web portal behind it. In the first three months more than 130 local businesses went through verification and listed themselves, and over 1,150 people in Knoxville joined the community.
Just as important for the founders: they own the code, the designs and the accounts, and they have a platform they can keep growing without going back to square one.
“We had no technical background-just an idea for a community app. Kochanet didn't just build it; they challenged our thinking, improved our concept, and delivered a full launch-ready platform. Communication was solid, the Figma designs impressed us, and the team was responsive and flexible. Today, we have a working, live app built for our city.”

If you have an idea and no technical co-founder, this is the path: discovery first so the scope and price are fixed, designs you can react to before anything is built, then a build with weekly demos so there are no surprises at the end.
And if your product depends on trust, whether that is verified businesses, verified users or verified anything, that is work we have already shipped. You would not be our first.

Nico had a clear idea: help people organise their money and actually understand it. He did not have a developer. We ran discovery, designed the product and shipped a React Native app to both stores, with identity verification and bank account connection built in from day one.

PawSquad already had customers and revenue. What it did not have was a platform that could keep up. We rebuilt the mobile app, the web app and the backend around the business that was already working, and stayed on as the team that keeps it growing.
